Your Board of Directors have been working hard to provide resources and opportunities for our members. Our Internal Coach LINC Group is restarting soon. Be watching for information. We also celebrated the ICF-North Texas Chapter of Excellence Award. Out of 144 chapters worldwide, we were one of ten to receive this award. More to come. You will also be getting more information very soon about the DEIB Belonging Focus Group initiative. This is a big step toward understanding what our members think about our culture, belonging, comfort, connection, and contribution. It’s an opportunity for your voice to be heard.

Calling All Internal Coaches!


We had a great program last month by Cherie Silas on Internal Coaching.  It created quite the buzz.  I’ve heard from some of you, and I believe we have enough interest to re-start the Internal Coaches LINC!  Would you like to meet once a month with other coaches navigating the Internal Coach landscape? (The group can decide day and time and on ZOOM or in person details.)  This could be a great opportunity for you to get to know others in the Internal Coaching field.  I can just imagine the robust conversations that will happen. If you are an internal coach and would like to be part of this newly formed LINC, don’t delay.  Email Cheryl Close at membership@icf-nt.com so I can put you on the list.



Volunteer Opportunity: Chapter Report Coordinator


Are you organized, detail-oriented and looking to be more involved in the things that make ICF North Texas an award- winning chapter? Annually, we prepare a report that represents our chapter highlights and successes and we submit it to ICF Global. Our chapter has won the Distinguished Chapter award two times because of our work and our service to our members and the coaching profession. The Chapter Annual Report is the document that tells ICF Global who we are and it’s what they use to make decisions on who will win the Distinguished Chapter Award.

The Chapter Report Coordinator will assist the Secretary in gathering the appropriate information throughout the year that will be incorporated into the annual chapter report. This role allows for interaction with the Chapter Board and members with the goal to ensure that the happenings of the Chapter are gathered so that the final report can be written and delivered to ICF Global. It’s a role that you can manage on your schedule. Typically, the work begins in August and continues through the end of the year.

The Chapter Report Coordinator should be  familiar with Google docs and have experience with Excel. Contact Sue Shibley (sjshibley@gmail.com) if you’d like to see an example of a report provided to Global in the past and/or to better understand this role and whether it’s right for you.

Helpful Information for New and Not So New Members

Welcome to our 17 new members this month. We are glad you are here! Please read the rest of this article about LINC Groups as we have one especially created for new members!

What are LINC Groups?  ICF-North Texas created and launched LINC groups in 2017, and they are still going strong!  LINC stands for Learn, Interact, Network & Contribute.  These are groups of 5 - 15 people who value building relationships with other coaches while they focus on a particular common interest.  These groups can be organized by any member in conjunction with the Director of Membership. The members of each group are responsible for the group’s facilitation.  Some groups divide up the few facilitation tasks, and some groups rotate those responsibilities.  LINCs are not “sit and get” they are dynamic interactive opportunities.

We have two types of LINC groups. There are four LINCs that support coaches in their pursuit of improving their coaching skills and/or attaining the next level of credential. There are also other LINCs that are focused on interests or commonalities other than credential support.

You can check out all of our current LINC groups here.  You must be an ICF-North Texas member to participate in these and they are free.  Some of our members belong to more than one group.  Just remember when you join a LINC you are helping to maximize your benefits and it is a commitment to attending, connecting and contributing.

Chapter Recognition

 

Thank You to the Communications Team!

A tremendous amount of administration and creativity happens behind the scenes to keep you informed of all chapter, regional, and ICF Global events and opportunities on all our different platforms. Here’s our team:
  • The team includes Lisa Seay, our 2018 and 2019 Communications Director, who leads the coordination of our newsletter. She collects and edits the articles, and is gifted in the way she creates and refines processes and offers new ideas.
  • Norma Martinez, the chapter’s 2017 Social Media Director, brings you the Member Snapshot each month, showcasing the diversity of personalities, backgrounds and coaching experience within our chapter. Norma identifies members, collects and edits the stories and brings her unique insights to improve the process.
  • We have a virtual assistant, Patty Vaccaro who is our professional graphic designer, the social media lead, and I’d even say “advisor” because she has strong marketing knowledge and does so much more for our chapter.
  • We also have a virtual assistant Peggy Peterson, who is essential to publishing our newsletter and the special email blasts that you receive. Peggy has been with us for years and it is a huge help to have someone on board familiar with our operations.
  • New to our team, but not new to our chapter, is Past President, Tim Kincaid, and we are excited to have him join us and to leverage his expertise.

Member Snapshot - Pallavi Ridout, ACC


Our Member Snapshot is an ongoing glimpse of your fellow members, giving you a great network of resources available to you and reminding you why it is so valuable to belong to ICF-North Texas. This month our feature member is Pallavi Ridout, ACC, Founder and CEO of The ELM Advisory Group.

Tell us why you founded The ELM Advisory Group. When I exited my very promising and successful corporate career, it was very clear how unhappy and stressed I was. This helped me define what I wanted out of life and what I did not want.

I took a year off and went on an eat, pray, love journey of sorts. This led to deep reflections of the kind of life I wanted to lead. It led to the uncovering of my “Ikigai,” the Japanese word for “your reason for being.”

That’s when I decided to stay true to my values, to live a life that leveraged my strengths and enabled a deep-rooted desire to “impact a million lives.” I realized that if I could not truly live my values of: Family, Freedom, Challenge, Influence and being Strategic then I would continue to be unhappy. I also realized I am happiest when I am leading with my (Clifton) Strengths: Woo, Activator, Communication, Responsibility and Strategic. That’s when the call came to me. “Leading a life of no regrets” became a life philosophy that I live and breathe every single day.
This philosophy led me to committing to giving 25 percent of my working time back to the community and charitable causes, and includes elevating the status of women, children, and our environment.

The other 75 percent I dedicate to doing five things in my professional life:
  1. Coaching: Executives, C-suite officers, senior leaders, high potentials and female executives. Focus areas include career; diversity, equity and inclusion; organizational leadership development; multicultural; personal/life; and small business/entrepreneur.
  2. High Impact Development Programs: leaders, managers, highly functional, dysfunctional and anywhere-in-between teams.
  3. Facilitation Services: Boards, CEOs and leadership teams, committees, cross-functional and intact teams.
  4. Keynote speaking.
  5. Emceeing conferences and fun events like charitable fundraisers.
 It’s not an exact science divvying up time to give back and do meaningful work…but it’s the intentions that count and the ability to evaluate periodically and rebalance.

What training and coaching credentials do you have and/or are in the process of obtaining? I am an ACC credentialed coach and am in the process of obtaining my PCC. My certifications include:
  • Prosci/ADKAR - Change Management Certification
  • “Extraordinary Facilitator” by Development Dimensions International (DDI)
  • Assessment Certifications -Hogan, DiSC Predictive Index, Korn Ferry: Emotional, Leadership and Organizational assessments (ECI, ILS & OCS)
  • 50 Ways to Fight Bias – Lean In Certification
Why do you choose to be a member of ICF-North Texas? To find my tribe. Being a solopreneur can be lonely and getting connected to the community of fellow ICF coaches has been rewarding on so many levels. I have not only made some great professional connections but have also developed some great friendships!

My commitment in 2024 is to be more active in my attendance of the ICF-North Texas chapter meetings. I find them to be highly educational and have made some fantastic connections. I have attended the Texas Coaches Coalition (TCC) conference for two years and they have been outstanding.

I’m engaged with the LINC groups focused on Business Building and PCC. The Business Building LINC group is a great place to network and learn what others are doing to grow their practice. The PCC Credential Support LINC group is a great resource to get guidance on taking the PCC credentialing exam.

I encourage coaches to volunteer to serve on ICF-North Texas or TCC committees and the board as it’s such an enriching experience. Participating in providing pro bono coaching to our alliance organizations has also been a rewarding way for me to give back.
