From Your Board

Your Board convened its first meeting of the year on January 16, 2025 and discussed several exciting initiatives to enhance our chapter’s offerings and engagement. Below are the key updates:

ICF and Our Chapter’s 30-Year Anniversary: Details about our chapter’s upcoming 30-year anniversary events will be announced soon. As part of ICF’s legacy, Judy Feld, MCC, a founding member and first president, has been highlighted on the ICF Global website. You can read more here.

Membership Feedback Analysis: We extend our gratitude to all members who contributed their input during the Annual Meeting in January. The collected data has been compiled and will be reviewed during our February retreat to inform strategies for chapter improvements.

Micro-Community Meetings: Twenty-six members have volunteered to host micro-community meetings with coaches across our geographical region. The idea is to connect, learn, and support each other. Detailed information about these opportunities will be shared once finalized. If you are interested in hosting one of the events at your home or a restaurant (ex. coffee, lunch, dinner, or another activity), you can sign up here.

Member Heat Map: A “heat map” showcasing the zip code distribution of our membership has been created and will soon be accessible on our website.

Partnership with ACMP: We are in the process of exploring a partnership with the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP). As part of this collaboration, we will schedule virtual "meet and greet" sessions to deepen mutual understanding and discuss potential networking and strategic opportunities. Members are encouraged to participate.

Buddy Program Pilot Launch: The membership committee has introduced a "Buddy Program" for monthly meetings to enhance member engagement. Paula Holland will serve as the initial program lead, welcoming new members and visitors, facilitating introductions, and conducting follow-ups within a few weeks. If the pilot proves successful, Cheryl will seek additional volunteers to support this initiative.

Alliances: Our chapter is building meaningful partnerships with several organizations to broaden our community impact. Current collaborations include:
  • Stand Beside Them – Launching in February
  • Dallas Bar Association – Beginning in Q2
  • North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) – Starting in March
Pending engagements are under consideration with the Dallas Junior Chamber, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Cedar Hill ISD. For more information, reach out to Alliances@ICF-NT.com.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB): Efforts remain ongoing to align with organizations that share our commitment to fostering a sense of belonging across all areas of chapter activity. If you have suggestions, please contact deib@icf-nt.com.

Monthly Meetings: Our monthly chapter meetings will be held at the Las Colinas Country Club through April 2025. All program details are available on the chapter calendar through March, and registration is now open.

We look forward to engaging with you through these initiatives as we continue strengthening connections and expanding communities to grow and strengthen our chapter community. If you have questions or want to share ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our directors for assistance.

President, ICF-North Texas

LINC Group Focus – "Ready to Retire: Now, Later, Never?"

LINC Groups are small special interest groups within ICF-North Texas, designed to help our members Learn, Interact, Network, and Contribute. LINCs are a valuable benefit of ICF-North Texas chapter membership.

The “Ready to Retire: Now, Later, Never?” LINC Group is an engaging group of coaches contemplating retirement...or not! What retirement means, ways to transition, things we wish we had known. This LINC meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:00 AM (Central). Anyone is welcome to join this group regardless of where they might be in their life journey, including those who have no plans to ever retire. We are casual and discussion-based with room for multiple points of view, and we welcome new topics of interest. Please register on the ICF-North Texas calendar to get the ZOOM link. For more information, contact LINC leader Maureen Tarantello.

There are eight other LINC Groups, with a variety of focus areas. For details, click on the Programs tab of icf-nt.com.

Celebrating Black History Month: ICF's DEIB Initiatives and Leadership Inspiration

As we celebrate Black History Month, we honor the achievements and resilience of Black leaders, reflecting on the values of equity, inclusion, and belonging. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) champions these ideals through its DEIB initiatives, focusing on global representation, education, accessible environments, and equitable policies. Learn more about ICF's commitment to diversity and inclusion here.

This month also inspires us through the wisdom of iconic Black figures like Booker T. Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Frederick Douglass, and Maya Angelou, whose teachings enrich our understanding of leadership and personal growth. These leaders teach us the importance of perseverance, self-awareness, and authenticity—qualities essential for effective coaching.

Let's use this time to deepen our understanding of diversity, challenge limiting beliefs, and embody the lessons of these trailblazers in our daily lives. By doing so, we contribute to a more equitable and empowered future. Join us in this commitment to celebrate diversity and inclusion, not just in February but throughout the year.

Communications Team Seeks Volunteers

The Communications Team manages how the chapter shares information with its members and the community. This includes creating a yearly communication plan to support all chapter events and initiatives, such as International Coaching Week, the annual meeting, and other special events. Thus, the Communications Team ensures clear, consistent communication across all platforms.

We Value Our Volunteers

Our award-winning chapter is successful and works so well because of our volunteers. Volunteering increases the value of ICF membership in so many ways. Sharing your time and talents as a volunteer helps us expand the impact of professional coaching throughout North Texas and beyond. Volunteers benefit, too. Volunteering can help you build your network and grow your coaching practice. Serving on a committee is a great way (for new members, especially) to get involved and meet other professional coaches who are potential collaboration partners, allies, source of referrals, and friendships.
