Celebrate Coaching 2020
An ICF North Texas Virtual Event
Focus: Coaching in Organizations

September 11, 2020

8:30 AM – Noon CT

Virtual Event Fees:

Individual registration $40

Renée Robertson, PCC, SHRM-SCP, and ICF Global VP of ICF Coaching In Organizations will walk us through of the evolution of coaching and how coaching has become a strategic advantage for organizations around the world. She will share a few of her own experiences as an early pioneer and winner of two International Prism awards. Renée is a champion for coaching in organizations. She will share projections for the future and how the ICF’s CIO start-up is preparing to take coaching in organizations to the next level.

CCEUs for Renée’s presentation: .75 Resource Development Credits

Sandy Mitsch, MCC, CPCC, CDWF, CDTLF, will share what she's learned after working with corporate leaders for 33 years and studying Brené Brown’s research on shame, courage and vulnerability for 8 years. We all self-protect when we are uncomfortable and we call this self-protection ‘armor.’ Armor is the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that we use to protect ourselves when we aren’t willing to lean into vulnerability. It moves us out of alignment with our values, corrodes trust with our colleagues and teams, and prevents us from being our most courageous selves.

CCEUs for Sandy's Presentation: 1.75 Core Competency Credits

ICF North Texas and North Texas Food Bank Partnership

Our partnership with North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) continues. Our aim is to optimize their individual and team performance through the partnership with ICF North Texas to implement a coaching culture at NTFB. This year we are offering individual and group coaching and workshops to train NTFB leaders in coaching skills to take forward.

This month we’d like to especially thank our group that put together the opening and closing workshops and overall support for the coaching experience including Larry Cochran, Susan Daniel, Jude Olsen, Tim Kinkaid, Demi Prentiss, Lisa Seay, and Sherry Yellin.

Susan Daniel, Director of Alliances for our Chapter Board, led this initiative alongside a very active steering committee. During a recent meeting she facilitated with the pro bono coaches who participated, we heard many valuable comments about the experience so far. Comments such as these were shared over and over.

“It was a wonderful opportunity…

  • To participate in group coaching.”
  • To observe and learn from other coaches.”
  • To help the leaders who are in such a high stress time.”

One volunteer coach captured an important point about the experience from her perspective. “A lot of us are really busy, but you made volunteering so easy this year! It was an amazing experience and it filled my heart.”

Demi Prentiss, who gathered up our 45 pro bono coaches on behalf of our chapter, shared that when she asked for help, “We got tons of people volunteering! I’m proud of our organization. We’re a group of givers.”

Leader of the group coaches Michele Galen added, “Our pro bono coaching added up to more than 400 hours donated, and we know and are grateful for the many hours being contributed beyond the actual coaching. I’m very impressed with our coaches’ level of participation.”

Suzanne Drotman, Vice President of People and Culture of NTFB, explained how meaningful the coaching has been for their 34 leaders who got very engaged in the comprehensive offering (individual and group coaching plus workshops to help them learn some coaching skills themselves). “Your efforts fit into our vision and priorities so beautifully this year,” Suzanne explained. “We had more buy in, more momentum – and we needed that because we also have a great deal more stress through the pandemic and a great deal of transition happening.”

As we head into the final weeks of this important partnership with NTFB in 2020, we are excited to see what additional value comes forth. Please watch for metrics and more in our October wrap up and continue to appreciate all who are making this such a valuable coaching experience.

Should I Find a Mentor or Coach?

As coaches, we are often asked to help others clarify and move forward. During these months it may be more important than ever to have someone we can call to help with how we are pivoting and our overall success. If you do not have a close, ongoing relationship with a mentor or coach to help you stay grounded and be accountable to your values, we encourage you to find that relationship. Perhaps you can barter or create new ways to get and share this important component to your growth journey. Ready, set, GROW!
