Honoring ICF North Texas Past Presidents
ICF North Texas is unique among all chapters in having a large cohort of active and engaged past presidents. To recognize their ongoing contributions to ICF North Texas, the annual Past President's Brunch on February 11 was a gathering to recognize past presidents, introduce them to the new chapter board Members, and say farewell to those who are leaving the board. It is also an opportunity to update the past presidents on the chapter’s 2023 goals and draw on their collective wisdom and insight.
“The coming together and sharing of ideas with the new ICF North Texas Board (and new president, especially) is appreciated beyond words,” said Staci Witten, 2023 ICF North Texas President. “For the board, knowing they are there as mentors and to provide guidance means a great deal.”
This year’s brunch had 11 past presidents attending, representing terms from ICF North Texas’ founding in 1995 (Judy Feld) to 2022 (Tim Kincaid).
Thank you to these past presidents for participating this year’s brunch: Bev Wright, Buzz Kolbe, Frances Shuster, Judy Feld, Julie Overholt Dearing, Kathleen Klaviter, Mike Caracalas, Neena Newberry, Randy Fernandes, Susan Shapiro, Tim Kincaid, and Sara Smith (who is a past president of ICF Global). And to the six past presidents who could not attend this year, we hope you can attend in 2024. You have all made, and continue to make, our chapter a notable one across the globe.

Member Snapshot - Tyra Bremer
This month we are pleased to feature our member Tyra Bremer who provides Leadership Development with Stewart Leadership. In addition, Tyra is our Associate Director of Programs for ICF North Texas. Please enjoy this glimpse of another example of our fantastic members!
Why do you enjoy being a Leadership Development expert? Tyra explained, “I have a passion for helping people become their best self. I enjoy connecting with professionals at all levels within an organization, igniting strong leadership and enabling good people to have a secure future while maximizing business performance.”
A lifelong learner, Tyra has received some excellent training to help her support clients.

Why coaching? Tyra shared, “About 14 years ago, as I was leaving my annual review and heading to the airport, I reflected on the discussion I had with my boss. One thought weighed heavily on my mind: I sure am bored, but I love my organization and the people I work with.” She added, “I realized there was only one person who could do anything about that, and it was me! On that very drive to the airport, I made the decision to change—to stop being an order-taker and start being an impact-maker. I wanted to figure out a way to light my flame while lighting the flames of others. I made a commitment to pursue formal training and education around leadership development, coaching, and training and facilitation. I can proudly say that I absolutely love being able to champion, energize, and unify in this space.”
More background: While working for a rapidly growing collision repair organization, Tyra earned a promotion to the organization’s first-ever female vice president in less than one year for her successful and proactive initiatives. Tyra created and managed the company’s M&A training integration strategy while directing the design, development, and execution of multiple operational and leadership conferences, one of which was cited by the CEO as “the best conference our organization has ever had.” Tyra was selected to conduct interviews with leading industry publications and news outlets, contributing to the organization’s listing as a Dallas Business Journal “Best Places to Work” company for four consecutive years. As you can tell, she became very good at coaching herself, and preparing herself to coach others.
And that led to this: Tyra developed a comprehensive Leadership Academy program for more than 500 people managers. She includes blended learning curriculum and focuses on raising employee engagement and retention, improving business performance, enhancing leadership bench, and driving a culture of continuous learning.
Why ICF? Tyra exclaimed, “From the moment I walked into the door in August of 2018, I was welcomed with open arms!” She has participated in and moderated numerous in-person and virtual events, and Tyra has been an ICF North Texas volunteer since 2019. “It has been an amazing experience and I've built life-long friendships and received valuable education with our chapter. I'm looking forward to continuing to serve the coaching community.”
