Three Lenses for Coaching Supervision: Developing a Reflective Practice for Coaches

Ken Giglio, PCC

Our June 11 Southeast Region Webinar features Ken Giglio, PCC, principal of Mindful Leadership Consulting, LLC, a leadership consulting and executive coaching firm that partners with executives and teams in global organizations. Mindful Leadership offers coaching supervision in partnership with internal and external leadership coaches. Ken leads a global team of highly experienced executive coaches and coach supervisors that link leadership to an organization’s strategic business objectives. Ken’s executive coaching, consulting, and supervision are focused on “Mindful Leadership,” the courage to confront and shift the self-limiting mindsets and behaviors that undermine personal, team, and organizational effectiveness. He develops leaders who are self-aware and agile in the moment—leaders who are focused on business strategy, building effective relationships, and achieving sustainable performance and results.

Ken holds a degree in Psychology from Fordham University. He obtained his Executive Coaching Certification from The Hudson Institute of Coaching. Ken is also a Certified Coaching Supervisor through the Coaching Supervision Academy, where he currently works with the faculty team. Ken is certified in numerous leadership assessments, including the Hogan Assessments, Leadership Circle, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis™, Korn Ferry Voices 360°, Emotional and Social Competency Inventory, DiSC, Team Diagnostic Survey, Systemic Team Coaching, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, and Social Style®.

Webinar Description:

Executive and organizational coaches working with leaders, teams, and groups are immersed in complex, evolving organizational systems. This equally applies to transition and career coaches as there is always a systemic context to the coaching work. A coach’s ability to show up confident, competent, creative, and compassionate for his/her clients depends on their capacity to review and reflect on their work. This experiential session, using a live group supervision session and dialog, aims to illustrate coaching supervision as a reflective practice helping coaches be attentive and present to themselves, their clients, and organizations as systems.

Webinar Outcomes:

In this experiential session, through live supervision sessions, participants will have the opportunity to give and receive coaching supervision and to experience, through a reflective dialog, how to view their work through a more systemic lens. Being an effective systemic coach means being attentive and present with the leaders we coach and reflecting on our work through three lenses. Coaching Supervision creates the reflective and relational space for coaches to look through these three lenses to learn and develop from a systems perspective in service of their clients and organizations:

  1. Self — how is my coaching client’s situation affecting me?
  2. Others — what is the quality of my client relationship and my relationship to the client organization?
  3. The System — what is happening within the system/s the client operates in, and what effects are being felt by the client?
