Our February 14 luncheon program features Med Rentschler, PCC, and Steve Coxsey, PCC. Meg Rentschler, LCSW, PCC is an instructor and mentor for two coach training programs. She has worked with hundreds of coaches to build skills and businesses as professional coaches. Stephen Coxsey, MA, PCC, is a coach trainer, mentor, and assessor with twelve years of experience coaching small business owners and ten years of experience coaching senior managers and emerging leaders in business and government organizations.

Meg and Steve will overview the importance of the coaching agreement for an overall engagement and how it sets up an expectation to have a clear agreement for each session. They will explore the components of a clear, workable session agreement, the challenges in co-creating one, and how we draw on other core competencies and coaching skills to overcome those challenges. They will call on the wisdom and knowledge of the group in an interactive exercise where we identify common difficulties in establishing the session agreement and use creating coaching approaches to overcome them.

Chapter News

Remembering Russ Yaquinto

We will miss the big, warm hugs that Russ Yaquinto had for all in ICF North Texas where he has been a member for nearly 20 years and served as a dedicated volunteer on the Ambassador team. He passed away in January.

Through the years Russ would often welcome members at the front door of meetings with his friendly smile and welcoming presence. He made a significant contribution as a coach in the UT Dallas EMBA program and he was known for his generosity, often providing pro bono coaching and insights for deserving organizations and individuals.

As an MCC and the Principal of The Change Connection, Russ was a human development specialist, inspiring ‘aha moments’ that enabled people and organizations to accomplish more. He was a memorable author and speaker, certified in Performance Intelligence, Myers Briggs, and Winslow Personal Dynamics as well as trained in brain-based leadership.

He was a part of the first Board in 2003 alongside our first official President Judy Womack. He also served on TACT (the Ambassador's Calling Team) for several years before taking on the lead role of this outreach program. He could have been the Forrest Gump of our chapter, had it not been for his amazing intellect and quick wit. Russ was everywhere: Prism, volunteer coaching initiatives, North Texas Food Bank... if there was a place to serve, Russ was often the first to raise his hand. He was always there with a huge, engaging smile and a willingness to help our chapter, its stakeholders and our community at large.

We treasure his passion, integrity and service of others,
and our hearts go out to his wife Jan and his extended family.

News from ICF Global

Champions of Change!

This year is the 25th anniversary for ICF Global and for ICF North Texas, an outstanding time in our history to show the world that we are all about transformation. Not only are we in service of our clients who are making real and lasting changes in their lives, with ICF we make continual changes to better serve coaches and the community throughout organizations. Here is an excerpt from Sara Smith’s blog on ICF Global that reminds us of how important it is that we be champions of change.

How organizations are seen defines them. As champions of change, one of our jobs—each one of us—is to make sure we are not the only ones who see our ICF as transformed. Let’s find every opportunity to tell the world who we are becoming. Champions of change know how to leave the past behind and live into the future. We have lots to be proud of in the past 25 years, but let’s not reminisce too long on our past. Let’s see ourselves as the International Coaching Federation: more valuable to members and society and more influential than ever before.

In 2020, let’s celebrate and be grateful for our heritage as we turn our collective efforts toward creating the future. It is a future where we are professional coaches and coaching in organizations. Where we represent the cornerstones of ethics, coaching competencies and training. Where we personify thought leadership and responsibility in our society.

Sara Smith, MCC, is the 2020 Chair of the ICF Professional Coaches Global Board, founder of ICF Southeast Region, and a passionate advocate for our coaching community. As Principal of Smith Leadership she guides business executives, athletic coaches and university executives to and through meaningful transformation. She has 30 years of leadership experience with IBM and a bachelors and a masters degree from TCU. Sara was part of ICF North Texas chapter leadership for eight years, the Southeast Region for six years and she remains connected with our ICF North Texas chapter.

Please watch for many opportunities ahead that will highlight the rich history of our chapter and our profession, and new possibilities as we celebrate throughout this year.
