March Webinar

March 26, 2019
Noon - 1pm

Meet Your Inside Team

By Cynthia Loy Darst, CPCC, ORSCC, MCC

Our Tuesday, March 26 Webinar will be facilitated by Cynthia Loy Darst, Co-Active Coach, speaker, author, and co-owner of Team Darst. With over 25 years as a Co-Active Coach, Darst was a founding Front-of-Room Leader for both CTI and CRR Global. A favorite in the coaching world, Darst was the Provocateur (Opening Keynote and Emcee) for the ICF Advance in London in 2015 and delivered the opening Keynote for the 2012 Midwest Regional ICF Conference.

Program Description:

We all know the frustration of trying to make a change in our lives, only to find our good intentions derailed along the way. While some obstacles may be external, most of what gets in the way comes from inside—from the differing positions and opinions of the “Players on your Inside Team.” By discovering who is on this team and how the game is played we can gain new awareness and return to conscious choice and aligned action.

April Program and Workshop

April 12, 2019

PROGRAM:
The Future of Coaching—It’s Ours to Create

By Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC, and Vice Chair, ICF Global Board

Our April 12 luncheon program features Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC. Sara is a long-time coach from Fort Worth, Texas. After working for IBM for nearly 30 years—seven years as an internal coach, she now has her own coaching firm, Smith Leadership. In nearly 20 years as a coach, she has honed her skills in organization effectiveness, emotional intelligent and the neuroscience of leadership. She works primarily with executives and delights in being in “ah-ha” business.

Program Description:

Sara will present the future of coaching and the work that ICF is doing to create that future. We will talk about what the ICF is working on to increase the visibility and understanding of coaching to the organizations across the globe. You will hear how credentialing, ethics and ICF-sponsored research help create more opportunities for us all. Find out how you can take advantage of the many ways membership offers value to you and your coaching practice. We will discuss the value of being a contributor to the success of the ICF, not just a consumer of services. There will be an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the ICF.

WORKSHOP:
Discovering the Magic of Metaphors

By Sara Smith, MCC, CPCC, and Vice Chair, ICF Global Board

Join us following the luncheon program as Sara Smith teaches us the skills to listen for our clients’ use of metaphors and then harvest them to use in our coaching. (Notice the use of the word “harvesting”? Yep, it’s a metaphor.)

Program Description:

Metaphors are a great tool and can be one cornerstone to creating awareness—one of the most complex coaching competencies. They can also be daunting. The question is, how can I use metaphors that sound natural. I don’t want my coaching to sound clunky and made up. We will talk about the magic of metaphors and how they open up the creative parts of a client’s brain. We will talk about what makes a good metaphor and how to hear them in what our clients say. You will be given the chance to observe coaching aimed at highlighting the use of metaphor and then debrief what you heard.
